What is the Poynton Community Larder?
The Poynton Community Larder is more than just a food bank. It's a welcoming space offering support for those who might need a little extra support.
Where?
- Located at Poynton Baptist Church, 22 Park Lane, Poynton, SK12 1RE.
- Visitors can access it via the side entrance leading directly to the car park (which offers 90 minutes of free parking).
When?
- The Larder opens its doors twice a month - on the first and third Wednesday, from 1:30pm to 4:30pm.
Who can use it?
If you live in Poynton, you’re welcome - no referral needed.
The Larder is open to everyone, regardless of financial background. It’s about community, not criteria.
Currently, around 25 people visit the Larder on each open day, but volunteers believe many more in Poynton could benefit. That’s why they’re reaching out: to let residents know that help is available.
What does it cost?
For just £4 per visit, members can select up to 15 items from a wide range of essentials including:
-
Dry, tinned, and packaged food
-
Fresh vegetables, fruit, and bread
-
Toiletries and hygiene products
On average, this amounts to £30 worth of goods, making it a smart and affordable way to stretch your shopping budget.
Pet food is also available (and doesn’t count toward your 15 items).
Where does the food come from?
The Larder is stocked through the generosity of local individuals, schools, and businesses, along with cash donations used to purchase supplies from FareShare - a UK charity fighting food waste and hunger.
