Peaks & Plains Housing Trust successful in £6.5m Government grant funding bid for Household Energy Efficiency Improvements
The scheme - formerly known as the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) – will upgrade a significant amount of social housing stock currently below Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Band C up to that standard, and help install energy efficiency measures and low carbon heating to social homes across England.
We will invest this funding over the next three years to enhance the energy efficiency of our homes and work with more of our customers to reduce the carbon footprint of our homes.
This initiative is part of the Trust's ongoing commitment to sustainability and reducing carbon emissions.
To achieve this we will be installing fabric measures where required – including Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels and replacing windows and/or doors; installing Air Source Heat Pumps to houses and bungalows with off-gas grid heating; and replacing older gas heating in properties to decarbonise their heating.
This investment in homes will make them more energy efficient, comfortable, and affordable for tenants. To achieve this we will be working closely with supply chain, residents, and other key stakeholders to help tackle environmental and social challenges.
Alec Gaston, Assistant Director of Development, Asset, and Compliance at Peaks & Plains Housing Trust, said:
We are thrilled to receive this significant allocation from the WH:SHF. This funding will enable us to continue our vital work in retrofitting homes, improving energy efficiency, and ultimately providing our residents with warmer, more sustainable living environments.
The Trust has a proven track record in retrofitting homes, having been awarded £550,000 through Wave 1 of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund, and £2.5m through Wave 2.1 of the scheme.
This investment will help us improve the neighbourhoods we work across using social value initiatives, including working with local community groups and schools.
